Can I send a link in the first message?

By default, no. Tuco drops messages that have links in the first message to a new contact. T

here are two reasons for this.

Links from unknown senders aren't clickable anyway.

When someone who isn't in your contact's address book texts them, iOS renders the link as plain text. The lead can't tap it, so it does nothing for you.

First messages with links get flagged faster.

Across our fleet, lines that open with a link get flagged and banned by Apple noticeably faster than lines that open with plain text. It's one of the strongest signals we've seen.

What to do instead

Open with plain text, exactly the way a person would. Once the lead replies, links become clickable and safe to send.
Attachments and voice notes follow the same rule: they work from the second message onward.

What if my use case needs a link up front?

Some do. Zoom reminders, appointment confirmations, and similar transactional sends where the recipient is already expecting to hear from you are reasonable exceptions.
This is a product flag we can disable on your account.

Click Support in the app, tell us the use case, and we'll turn it off for you. Just be aware you're accepting a higher ban risk on those lines.
